Welcome to Amy Speers' Wiki Page

Profile of the Author:

My name is Amy Speers, I am currently a second year student
attending the University of Ottawa. My program of study is Bachelor
of Commerce with an option in Finance.
I grew up in Stirling, Ontario a very small town about three hours
west of Ottawa. With a population of about 1500 everybody knows
everybody, so it was quite a change moving to a larger city. But
one for the better because it is much easier to get from one
place to another.
I have a younger sister (Bobbi) who is graduating from high-school
this year which makes me feel rather old because I can still
remember my last days of grade 12, as if they were yesterday. I have
a cat, Jazzy, who we got last Easter and I miss her annoying "pet me"
attitude whenever I am reading for one of my six courses. I did have a dog,
but unfortunately Tippy who I have had since my fifth birthday passed
away on the first of the school year. We miss him dearly, the house
and family is just not the same without him.
I have also been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of traveling with my
family. Some places we have gone include: Mexico, Dominican Republic,
Cuba, New York City, Washington DC,etc. And after I graduate I hope
to continue with traveling, as it is something I miss quite a lot being
a student.
Some more general things about myself include:
  • Favorite Colour: Red
  • Favorite Number: 8
  • Favorite Movie: Avatar
  • Favorite Book: The Davinci Code

Chosen Topic:

cows.jpg

The topic I chose to discuss on my Wiki space is cows. I chose this topic
because cows are a physical asset to the primary sector of the economy.
Thus they contribute to the natural running and efficiency of agriculture farms
such as dairy and beef.
Through the links below you will be able to read some general information
about cattle anatomy, different species, environmental impact and the role
of cows in some religions, folklore and and traditions.

Reflection on Wiki Use:

Wiki is an interesting tool to use to express one's one ideas and thoughts. It is quick and relatively easy to use once you learn all the ins and outs. Wiki is perfect, for those of us who are not technically inclined, as it is already set up to fit your needs, all you have to do is add your personal touch. Or in some cases the personal touch of multiple group members as Wiki offers the unique ability to edit the work of others, making a Wiki space a collaborate effort.

In my first experience with Wiki I learned how to link pages, set up a user account, upload pictures, link RSS feeds and videos and add a table of contents. I found Wiki relatively easy to use, as in most cases it is a step by step process with instructions along the way. I would encourage anyone that is interested in learning about Wiki, to go ahead and start their own page as it is a fun and easy tool to use.
